Tom was born and raised in Superior, WI. He continued playing throughout all levels, and eventually played High School hockey, winning 3 state championships. After High School, went on to play JR A hockey for the North Iowa Huskies (USHL) for two years. During his junior career, Tom had the privilege to play in Fussen, Germany and Bern, Switzerland for TEAM USA – UNDER 20 Team, winning 2 gold medals.

After juniors, he received a full athletic scholarship to play Division I hockey at the University of Minnesota – Duluth, earning MVP his junior year. After college, went on to play for the Lowell Lockmonsters (AHL), Florida Everblades (ECHL), Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL), and the Ft. Wayne Komets (IHL).

For nearly 15 years, Tom served as a head instructor in Wisconsin and Minnesota for various camps and programs. He has spent the last 5 years coaching in Norcal and has since lead the Santa Clara Blackhawks to a State Championship. He has been an On-Ice Instructor for Bay Area Blazers clinics since the start of the program, and continues to play a large role in the development of the program.
